The Good Life?

It's not quite 9 p.m. (though it will be later by the time I finish my rant.  three... two... one... I stand corrected).  and I'm already bubble-bathed, lotioned up, Jammied on and in bed.  Is this the good life?  I'm in such a funk (not the post-coital, or KC and the Sunshine Band pumped variety) I'm out of lunk.  Yes, that's my dumb rhyme for luck and funk.  I know.  They end the same without the spelling change.  I should be happy with that.  I'm not happy with much.
I started this blog a year ago to talk about the good things in life.  I had four posts.  In a year.  What the whaaaaaaat?  I mean, in the last year, things have been happening (aren't italics, and underlined bold italics, fun?).  I have a great job.  I'm a semester away from graduation with a stellar GPA.  I bought a house.  These are not things to scoff at, even if I am almost 32 and should have had this ess done long ago.   Mia is happy and healthy, despite a breast cancer scare (good news: it doesn't spread in dogs).
Bills.  They rule my life.  I spent a few hours sitting at my kitchen table in my (fantastic) dining room tonight writing out bills and setting up my budget for the year.  Some people gloat; I realized I'm taking home less than half my yearly income after taxes, retirement, and other deductions.  Whoopity-whoop.  Now, the advantage is that I'll always have enough to pay my bills and cover incidentals.  The bad news is: MORE THAN HALF my income is invisible.  Happy?  Not so much.
Quirky universe paying attention moment: Today at my doctor's office (to discuss my med dose) I finished Neil Gaiman's novel, Stardust.  I made it back to my desk, picked up my first file, and found one of the people was named for the novel.  Interested?  Happy?  Not as much as somewhat amused.
There's nothing much left to say.  Until next time, when hopefully happier moments will abound.
